Q) What are the rules of this website; why has my membership been suspended or canceled?
A) The rules are simple: 1) Do not post anything illegal (if you're not sure; don't post it), 2) Do not post anything pornographic (even if it is legal where you live; it is not relevant to this site.), 3) Do not post any hate orientated material (racist, sexist, homophobic, religiously-intolerant, etc.), 4) Do not post anything that overtly promotes or disparages any political party's agenda, 5) Do not post anything that overtly promotes or disparages any religious group, 6) Do not post anything that overtly promotes or disparages any companies' products (including spam), 7) Do not misrepresent yourself, 8) If you post anything that you do not own the copyright to, list the source and copyright owner, and if there is a complaint, it will be removed from our site. Generally if you are referencing a work, it is considered acceptable, while posting an entire work is not considered acceptable, 9) Do not use this website for anything other than its intended use: promoting communication on the subject of terraforming and directly related subjects, 10) The administrators can and will suspend or delete members' accounts that are believed to be violating any of the above rules, or doing anything else considered inappropriate. Affected members will be emailed in regards to why their membership has been suspended or canceled, and may respond to the email sent, however as all accounts are free, there will be no one 'above' the administrator that suspended or canceled their membership to appeal to. IP addresses that are linked to multiple canceled accounts will be blocked from accessing this website, at the administrators' prerogative, 11) The administrators will cooperate with any legal investigation into specific members' usage of this website, and provide any information requested by authorities within any jurisdiction regarding members believed to be from that jurisdiction. However, only investigations providing appropriate documentation will be cooperated with, 12) These rules can be updated whenever the administrators of this website believe it appropriate, and will be immediately in effect. Members will be notified via email that the rules of this site have been updated. Q) I was just signing up and I noticed that my country or territory isn't listed as a country, why? A) Our list of countries reflects the current UN members and recognized observer states, not de-facto independent states, nor UN recognized observer entities. Countries are added to the list as they are granted UN membership or recognized as UN observer states. As our organization is not political, we have chosen to use the most neutral list of nations available. We recognize that some areas are operating independently; they are listed as parts of the UN member nation they are usually associated with. No offense is intended. Q) What is the purpose of this society? And what if I want to do more? A) The purpose of this society is to promote international communication on the subject of terraforming our neighbouring worlds. If you would like to do more, for example: technological or scientific research, or the building or a seedbank or conservation area, these projects should be done at a national level. If you would like to establish a national level society, we are willing to cooperate with you, and offer support as needed; please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. A) Either are considered acceptable, it is assumed that educated people will recognise both forms as correct on an international website. Q) Why isn't this website available in more languages? Personal information will be required if you are accepted; specifically, we will need to know you are a real person, and will require a clear scan of a government issued identification card. Q) How do I become a director of the Society? A) While membership in this Society is open to anyone, the only way to become a director is through the sponsorship of another director. The current board of directors has assumed full legal and financial responsibility for this organization, and any future directors would be required to do the same. Administrators are considered prospectives, if they have notified a director of their desire to join the board. The current board has no interest in admitting additional directors at this time; and when additional directors are required, the board will approach prospectives directly. Q) Can I donate money, land, or other resources to this society? A) Yes, however, as the financial responsibility for this society is shouldered by the directors, we do not require or accept small donations of money (more work that it's worth, but thanks for the thought). For larger donations or bequeaths please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information. For smaller donations, please consider donating to the British Interplanetary Society, the Mars Society, or a similar organization operating within your country. |
